Got questions about international student plans?

  • T-Mobile accepts the following forms of IDs – eligible Consular ID card, Matricula Consular ID, US driver’s license, US Passport or Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), International student visa for the US with a valid passport, state ID, US Military ID or Employment Authorization Document (EAD).

  • School issued student IDs are not an accepted form of ID to sign up for T-Mobile service. See the question above for the eligible ID types.

  • T-Mobile has a variety of Prepaid and Postpaid product and service offerings for customers who do not currently have a social security number (SSN). As many international students do not have an SSN, our International Student Program is designed to make things easy for you. Just bring your Student Visa and valid passport to your local T-Mobile store so you can discuss your options with a representative and determine which is best for you.

  • Unlike other carriers T-Mobile won’t lock you into an annual service contract allowing you to stay connected while studying abroad in the U.S. You can visit your local T-Mobile store to where our representatives will help determine which product and service offerings are best for you.

  • No, Student Visa with valid Passport is only available as a way to sign up when you visit a T-Mobile store. Click here to find a store.

  • Yes, you can either use your own phone or are welcome to purchase a new one when you sign up for service. Visit Bring your own device (BYOD) guide | T-Mobile Support for more details about device compatibility and eligibility.
