He served as chief executive officer from April 2020 through October 2025. Mike joined T-Mobile in 2012, spending more than 13 years as a leader of T-Mobile’s transformation from a distant No. 4 domestic provider into the world’s most successful telco — one that’s positioned to unlock even more opportunities ahead. Mike became CEO after serving as president, chief operating officer and chief marketing officer, roles in which he was architect of the Un-carrier strategy and positioned T-Mobile for industry leadership. During Mike’s tenure as CEO, T-Mobile became the world’s most admired telecommunications company with the most satisfied customers in the U.S. market, the fastest customer and revenue growth among major providers, and the most value created for shareholders. At the same time, Mike and team set the foundation for T-Mobile’s digital-first future, established T-Mobile as the fastest-growing provider in the business segment, and created the 5G home broadband market at scale, leading the industry in both customer growth and satisfaction by a wide margin. All of this was made possible by T-Mobile’s world-leading 5G network. Built during Mike’s tenure, multiple third parties have recognized T-Mobile’s 5G network as the nation’s best. Customers now get the best network and the best value, backed by the best experiences — all from the same company. Mike championed initiatives that increased access to connectivity, including Project 10Million, which provides free and subsidized service to millions of under-connected students. CNN Business named him “CEO of the Year” in 2022, and he received Yale’s “Legend in Leadership Award” in 2024. Prior to joining T-Mobile in 2012, Mike had leadership roles at Microsoft, AT&T, E\*TRADE, IBM and Procter & Gamble. He currently serves on the Starbucks board of directors. Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
