  • Yes, it is possible to keep the number you already have from another wireless or landline carrier. First check to see if your existing number is eligible for transfer to T-Mobile. If your number is eligible proceed to the next question explaining how. In rare circumstances we are unable to transfer a number to our network. This is often because we don’t have a transfer agreement with the original service provider.

  • If your phone is not active with your new phone number you can call our Customer Care team after you have waited the expected time and ask about your port. You can reach us at 1 800-T-Mobile. Sometimes we need to correct some information before we can complete the transfer including things like misspelled names, incorrect billing addresses or other incomplete information.

  • Once you have decided to transfer your number to T-Mobile you will need the following information:

    • Phone Number(s) you want to transfer from your current Service Provider
    • Current Service Provider Name
    • Your current account number
    • Billing Address including Zip Code

    You will also need to contact your current Service Provider and do the following:

    • Request a Porting Pin/Password
    • Confirm your device is unlocked and can be ported to another Service Provider
    • Request removal of any blocks or requirements on your account so you can port
    • Ensure all balances are paid to your current Service Provider
  • T-Mobile provides several options for you. Since you are currently online you could complete your transaction right here. But, we also have options for you to do this at any of our retail locations, on the phone with one of our Care Representatives or if you are currently working with a Business Sales-Representative they can help you too!

  • Don’t cancel your current service until your number is fully activated on your new T-Mobile account. Failure to do this could cause an interruption in service by either provider.

  • Wireless Service transfers should take anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours. Transferring landline service can take from 3-10 days.

  • Option 1: Dial 611 or call us at 1-800-T-Mobile when you receive your new T-Mobile Phone or SIM Card. We recommend this method if you need to use your current phone until your new T-Mobile phone or SIM card arrives.
