5G Speeds are a joke
Why does 5G suck worse than 56K dial up? Every app connection gives me a spinning wheel of death. Everything takes forever to load. T-Mobile has been lying about how good there 5G network is. It’s garbage! The amount of money charged by T-Mobile should fund a good network. T-Mobile is over priced and not using the money correctly to support customers.

Here we are several years later form the original post, and yep... 5G is still an expensive for what you get joke. The most over-hyped, under-delivered promise I can remember from all the carriers.
I have "5G Home Internet" thru both T-Mobile and Verizon. The T-Mo system is so absurdly slow that it is used as a desperate fail-over backup. It's like going back to the 56K modem days...
The Verizon system isn't tremendously better but it's enough that we made it primary. If my wife didn't work 100% from home, I'd ditch T-Mo altogether but she can't afford to be without some type of connection.

A block from my home I get 300mbs but at my house I'm lucky to get 20mbs but I thinks it's because I have 3 large apartment complexes behind my house and the bandwidth is overloaded.

I live in a relatively large city and 5G doesn't work in the downtown area where many TMobile towers are located. People with different devices experience the same problem.
As I have mentioned I experience a blazing 5G speed with my phone at the TMobile shop not far from the place where it doesn't work for me. So, it's not the phone issue.
And the phone has been purchased from T-Mobile.
So, the point that I wanted to bring is that 5G coverage is not consistent in the areas where TMobile claims that it is. If you're lucky it's great, if not back to LTE, at least it works.

it didn't irritate me in the least..as i pointed out..my 5G works perfectly fine..so its not ALL of TMOs 5G...some locations sure..but no..not all.
gonna take a guess and say you're mainly in a rural area and not so much in a larger city? if so then it could be the band of 5G you are connecting to seeing as how most rural areas don't have all of the 5G bands
or as pointed out above your phone might not have all the 5G bands and is only working off the lesser of them.
phone purchased from TMO or some other route? if you have any other TMO phones around you whether on your account or not..if theyre signal is working perfectly fine but not yours then you already know where the culprit is..

It's a possibility that your device does not support the NR bands that T-Mobile has deployed in your area.

already posted my 5G speeds 7 months ago but for giggles lets see where im at today…
410Mbps download
33.4Mbps upload
22ms ping..
woof..a bit lower than my last test..
Ok, more power to you.
My 5G still doesn't give me on my Moto One 5G ace an acceptable speed where LTE works fine. And it happens to other people using different phones on TMobile in the area where I live.
Admit what? Whenever I spent time with TMobile tech guys who tried to help me (and BTW it was their suggestion to switch to LTE), they still blamed my phone for the poor 5G performance. But when I tried my phone with 5G in TMobile shop it gave me 700-800 Mbps. I live in the downtown of the city with plenty of TMobile towers but 5G is not working.
This what I meant by admitting and fixing.
Sorry if my problems with TMobile 5G service have irritated you.

And BTW the thread name doesn't mention a particular device as a problem but the network 5G performance.

Here is LTE
And this is on 5G
And it pretty consistent.
