Warning when closing FamilyMode

When I close the FamilyMode app a warning or message box pops up everytime that states “FamilyMode has been closed. Click here to reopen the app.”

Do I have to keep FamilyMode open in order for the restrictions I made for my kid to work?  That doesn’t seem right, but I thought I should ask.
