Learn how to dial an international number from your T-Mobile device. For detailed information on how to use your phone while in another country, check out the International roaming checklist.
Dial international numbers (Call another country from the U.S.)
- On your device, open the dialer in your phone app to make a call.
- Enter the plus sign + (press and hold the 0 key), followed by the country code, and then the phone number.
For example, to call Mexico from the US: Enter the plus sign + > Enter 52 > Enter the two or three-digit area code > Enter the 7 or 8 digit phone number.
Call another country when outside the United States
Check out International roaming services and rates for costs prior to making an international call.
- Call the US from another country: Dial the plus sign +, then 1, then area code, and the number (example: +1-555-123-4567).
- Call other countries (not the US): Dial the plus sign +, then country code, city code (if necessary), and number.
- Call toll-free numbers from outside the US: Toll-free numbers such as 1-800 or 1-888 cannot be guaranteed to work while abroad. Be sure to look up alternate numbers before you take your trip.

Automated message when making an international call
When calling some countries, you may hear an automated message that gives you a random two-digit number between 10 and 99.
- You must enter the number you hear to complete the call.
- T-Mobile added this extra step to help prevent fraudulent calls. It's only needed when calling certain international numbers/locations which may change over time.
