SIM Card Question

I just got a 5G phone that’s compatible with T-Mobile’s network. I’m currently using a 4G LG phone and wondering if all I need to do is swap the SIM card from my old phone into the new 5G phone or do I need a new SIM card specific for a 5G phone? If I do need a new SIM card for my 5G phone can I get it at my local T Mobile store?

  • odds are if you have a 4G phone currently the sim card would only be for 4G and not so much 5G unless as syaoran pointed out if it were replaced semi recently.

As long as your SIM card isn't more than a few years old, you should have no issues receiving 5G when that SIM is in a 5G device.  5G must also be available where you are for the device to use it.  Put your current SIM in the new device and try it out for a few days and see if you pick up 5G in any areas where 5G is available.  If not, picking up a new SIM from your local T-Mobile Store.
