SMS received as email from specific people

Although I can send and receive SMS & MMS as expected, there is one person/phone number whose SMSs turn into emails. I can send them SMS, and they receive it properly as text, but theirs only comes as email. How can I fix that?

    Are they using some sort of VOIP service for their number?  I have heard of this when it comes to a couple of privacy focused VOIP services.
