Pixel 6A poor service
(7/11/23)
I have had a number of Pixel phones and have been a T-Mobile customer for 11 months. I’d like to know why my wife and I are suddenly (in the last 10 days or so) having problems with EVERYTHING: Dropped calls, poor voice quality, difficulty answering, slow text service, spotty or non-existent bluetooth, calls cutting in and out and NO Bars!
I haven’t done anything differently. I’ve not moved. I’ve not added any new aps. I’ve not changed the internet coming into the house. I’ve not readjusted my bluetooth settings. The poor service is happening whether we are at home, on the road, or if I am with a client.
These days phone carriers are a dime a dozen, and if this problem doesn’t resolve soon, I will have to change carriers. I had been told that T-Mobile was better than this. I’m very disappointed.

i jumped over to V to check out their Google forums and there werent a ton of 6 posts but there were more than any other devices being mentioned. most were texting issues but a handful were for reception issues but not a bunch of different people posting in them...

Replacing the sim card was one of the first things I tried. I’ve been pretty disappointed with the Pixel 6a overall. Mine and my wife’s have both had issues.

in your case its gotta be one of the bands of 5G its trying to connect to. i doubt the issue would be with all bands. did they try swapping out your sim card? the sim card is what tells the phone which bands it needs to connect to.

My coverage went to heck about 6 months ago. Nothing worked to help. T-Mobile and Google were of no help, nor were the many suggestions.
In the end, I switched to LTE as my preferred connection as opposed to 5G and my bars increased substantially. I’m not doing much of anything requiring the 5G so I can live with it for now.

I want to thank you for your responses and troubleshooting tips. However, want to clarity one thing.
I, myself, have used now a pixel 6A with a swapped system board AND a brand new 6A, BOTH having the same issues.
My wife has an iPhone that is not having these issues.
I don’t believe this is a carrier issue, but device.
This was googles response, which is think is extremely weak.

Hi Sean,
Greetings from Google Support!
We’re sorry to hear that you are experiencing cellular connectivity issues on your replacement device too. Intermittent cellular connectivity issues like calls drops or loss of data may also be connected to poor carrier coverage in a specific area or a carrier outage. If you haven't already, I recommend that you confirm with your carrier on whether there’s coverage in your area.”

yeah im running out of ideas..most of the diagnostics steps i would normally provide get tossed out the window since 2 devices are running into the same thing..usually points to network..but since thats been ruled out im at a loss currently. as well as the fact that one is an Android phone while the other is Apple..so kind of opposites to each other and yet both are seeing this..if its not device or sim/esim its gotta be something borking up on your account….i mean there isnt much left to work with.

First phone was was physical sim, then replaced by esim,
Second phone was strictly esim.

weird that both phones 5G would be affected somehow. esim, physical sim or both?

Interesting you say that, I was on the phone with T-Mobile again today, and they told me to switch over to LTE for 24hrs to see if I noticed a difference. Automatically the bars went up.
I will report back to them tomorrow on my findings.
And yes, this happened in any area, work, home, road, etc.

ok so bought from BB but it was a TMO variant.
hrm….and no improvements once you leave the area by say 5+ miles in any direction?
go into your mobile data settings and chance away from auto and force it to 4G only. restart the phone then retry again. wondering if theyre both having issues with a certain band or something out of the blue.
