Oculus Suddenly not Connecting

We’ve had T-Mobile home internet for lamps two years. We’ve had zero issues and it has worked wonderfully on everything we have - TVs, Ps5, Xbox, iPads, phones, all that stuff. We’ve also have two oculus systems that have worked perfectly with the internet. All of a sudden about 3-4 weeks ago, my son’s oculus will no longer stay connected. It connects for 1-2 seconds, then disconnects and tries to reconnect repeatedly. Every other device is my home works fine. My son’s friend brought his oculus to our house and he had the exact same issue my son does. My son’s oculus connected and works perfectly to my phone’s hotspot. This seems like it has to be something within the connection of the internet and the oculus devices. I have tried every troubleshooting thing I can and NOTHING is working. I can find nothing that gives me any options to change IP or really adjust anything within the T-Mobile internet app. PLEEEEEASE help me. This is beyond frustrating for him (and me!!) and there has to be something that changed within one of the devices to start this.

Hey guys…I had the same problem…there was an update with the firmware that caused this problem with certain devices.  They sent me a new router the white 5G and now it connects just fine. What a headache, took me forever but now it works!

  • Same issue here.  All my network devices (TVs, Mesh, etc) are working fine, and my cell service is excellent.  However, my T-Mobile Gateway looks like stops working even though the display looks fine.  It’s clear that the issue is the Gateway periodically just stops creating a WiFi signal.  I cannot find a fix - restarting the Gateway and/or the network has no impact.  Eventually, it all of sudden works again.  I have the older Gateway (the black tower).  When I asked T-Mobile to replace it, they tried to give me the newer Gateway (the white box with the cell booster) but that would nearly double the cost of my home internet.  I’ll continue to push T-Mobile for a fix but this is going to drive me back to another carrier if it keeps up.

I had the same issues. FINALLY, after hours of phone IT and research , it came down to a faulty SIM card. When it was replaced, all was well. The SIM card was in the TMobile tower...every time we got a replacement tower the OLD SIM card was transfered to the new tower and of course, it didn't function either! I love T-MOBILE but like you, was about to throw in the hat and get a new carrier. BTW, bring your tower into TMOBILE and they will replace the SIM card at no cost!

  • I'm having same issue with my quest 2 looks like what ever firmware rolled out screwed it up

THIS, is exactly my story as well! I am beyond frustrated!  I was so irritated that Metaquest 2 sent me a replacement refurbished oculus. Guess what? That too doesn't keep the connection to the internet.  My daughter brought her quest2 while visiting and quess what? Yup, hers couldn't keep the connection to the internet! That convinced me it was not my Quest2 but rather my TMobile gateway.  Then I began internet searches and clearly there is an issue with TMobile but NO SOLUTIONS. I love TMobile. I don't want to leave. I just want it to do how it was working for the past year...until 4 weeks ago when it decided to kick out my Quest2. All other items; tv, phone, alexa, tablets, all work and connect and REMAIN CONNECTED. How can this be fixed? My 5G Gateway is black. HELP!!!

    HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION???

I had this exact issue and figured I was the only one! I called T Mobile and they asked me to factory reset my gateway. Now it works -- my Oculus stays connected (first time since January). This might be a good place to start before trying to get a new SIM card and/or new router.
