Buying Leased Device

Does anyone know how to purchase their previously leased device? When I was a Sprint customer I was given the option after my lease ended to just buy the device online, and when I went to do that with T-Mobile it wasn’t an option and instead they are charging me a month to month lease fee. Is this one of those things where I’ll have to call?
