Is the name change help page up to date?
I changed my name via court order, and per this page https://www.t-mobile.com/support/account/change-your-billing-name-ssn-or-birth-date it says to mail supporting documents and ID to the mailing address to change the name for my account. I did this and later on received a call from "tmobile expert" saying the change was successful. The rep told me to wait 72 hours for the changes to go into a effect.
After waiting, my account name was still not changed. I online chatted with a rep who told me that I had to go in store because this was a major change and to protect my privacy. I told them about the directions per the link and they gaslit me.
Am I misreading something from the link? If I wanted to go in store, I would have done that and not wasted my time and money mailing things. And the link says nothing about it -having-to be completed in store.

For name changes resulting from marriage, divorce, or if we made an error when spelling your name, take one of the following documents to a retail store, find one near you.
- Government-issued photo ID
- Social Security card
- Proof of address such as a utility or bank statement
- Marriage or divorce certificate for marriage/divorce changes
I know the OP was six months ago and your reply is 5 days ago. The OP mentioned it was a court order, which doesn’t mean it was based off marriage/divorce. I think they went through the court to have their name (first and/or last name) changed on their own will. Which states “For other legal name changes, send any supporting legal name change documents and a copy of a government-issued photo ID to the following address.”
Seeing the OP did just that and was given a big run around. Which makes me more worried on what is the best course action, as I’m in the same boat. (changed name based on court order). I do want to avoid sending stuff in and get put through the ringer, like the OP.
