My G4SE received newer firmware version 1.03.20

I finally started to wonder about a user’s suggestion about (hard) resetting the router using the back button and decided to give it a whirl. To my surprise, after i was setup i checked the firmware version and it was bumped to 1.03.20 (was 1.03.19).

The hard reset probably wasn’t required but if people still don’t get updated in a day, maybe reset to see if it gets updated after? Either way, we’ve been heard. Thanks T-Mobile.

This problem is not yet fixed!  Just went through 2 G4SE gateways, both have exactly same problem described in this discussion.   On average I get 28 hours uptime before a reboot happens.  I have strongly advised the T-mo support tech to escalate this problem and advise all of us what is being worked on to resolve it.  Only advice they can offer is to go to the Sagecom or Nokia gateways which apparently do not have such problems.   However they have to go inside as no external antenna can be connected.
BTW, T-mo now offers a Starlink solution.   We shall see what comes of that, being I am on a wait list for availability.

Just ordered replacement gateway but the T-mo tech could not guarantee it would be the G4AR.   they said the AR and SE are identical but clearly that can not be true coming from 2 different companies.   Will see what results I get in a couple weeks.   Right now it reboots randomly about every 24 hours or less.   I did catch once the error code "Unsupported SIM ... Error: SIM003"  but that did not seem helpful for T-mo to diagnose anything.   Will update with my results.

Been running 1.03.20 for about 4 days now.   Just had 1st known outage of G4SE.   Same symptom as 1.03.19 before.   Box goes dark will not respond to front buttons, then reboots.   Back up in about 3 minutes and everything is fine again.   Can not find release notes for 1.03.20 so have no idea what changes were implemented.
If same as before, (1.03.19) If you run fast to catch early message on front, it says “SIM Incompatibility...” can’t catch the rest of it as it then goes dark and reboots.   Tech support is really clueless as firmware apparently gets pushed from Sircom ( the manufacturer of the G4SE ) but they don’t seem to want to share anything about it that I can find.   Pesky problem but still working well when it works.   No problem months ago with 1.03.14, but that is history now.
