WiFi 2.4 is necessary for certain devices

When the 5G and 2.4 frequencies are combined, the devices requiring 2.4 drop off the network. The only way is connecting to a 2.4 dedicated WiFi.

My dedicated 2.4 WiFi got changed to a non-dedicated WiFi. That is annoying enough but the new application does not allow me to create a 2.4 dedicated WiFi.
The old app did. The new app needs to conform to customer requirements with the ability to setup a dedicated 2.4 WiFi.

If nothing else, one option is to use a spare router in AP mode plugged into the Gateway Lan port to broadcast a separate 2.4 signal for the stubborn devices to connect to.  I use a GL iNet travel router that you can pick up for abt $30 on Amazon and it works great for this purpose.

  • I already split it with the old app. The new app does not provide that feature. This is an App issue. The developers must be living in a cave out of touch with the real world.

Scroll down the discussion list and find the post "splitting 2-4 and 5g" and that may help. I cannot believe how pathetic the TM help section is.

@atcapecod are you using the TM Internet app or the T-Life app? I have the Sagemcom gateway and use the new T-Life app and can see the 2.4Ghz band for a new SSID. Maybe try the T-Life app? Also, try setting the new/static 2.4Ghz SSID, save it, then reboot the gateway and see if the setting holds.

Let us know if this works; it might help someone else.

  • I am using a Blueair Air Purifier and Blueair specifies WiFi 2.4 connectivity only.

What device are you using? Have you activated Guest mode and tried connecting thru that?
